13 a lucky number for Indiana, according to CNBC

Friday, July 11, 2008 by Mark Miles

Earlier this week, CNBC released its second annual ‘Best States for Business’ study, and Indiana won “Most Improved” – moving up 13 positions from the 2007 report to finish 13th.

CNBC’s business team judged states on 40 separate measures of competitiveness, with input from the private sector.  Indiana climbed into the upper echelon based on strong movement in the ‘Cost of Doing Business’ category (from 12th in 2007 to 6th this year) and overall Economy (48th to 37th), as well as improvements in Education, Business Friendliness, Quality of Life and Transportation (more kudos for our growing logistics sector).

The value of rankings is arguable, but I post this as one more indicator of our state’s (and region’s) positive economic momentum.  Our friends at the Indy Partnership (www.IndyPartnership.org) also detail this story on their blog, and offer much more statistical data and news on recent business attraction wins.
